Pier & Beam foundations and the concept behind these types of foundations, in general, has been around for a long time. In fact a lot of these foundations were used to create some of the most memorable buildings in the world. Yet, there are still certain key issues that could potentially plague these types of foundations and cause major problems to the overall structure that sits on top of these foundations. We want to let you know what you should be looking for to see if you are having trouble with your foundation and what we are going to be able to do if that is the case.

Soggy or Sinking Floors

Whenever you are walking around your home and you literally see mold or feel something kind of wet and it is not really supposed to be wet there is a problem. There is really no way around that. One of the more common issues with these foundations is that moisture pierces through them and it can eventually breakdown the entire foundation if this is something that is never treated. So spotting mold especially in or near your crawl space is an issue. Also seeing that your floors happen to be sinking is another issue that you should really look into!

What We Are Going To Be Able To Do

First off not all issues are going to need major repairs. To the point where we are going to need to lift your house and basically use other types of support systems. This is only going to be done when we deem that replacing the existing support or adding some extra support in another way is not going to be a viable option. If we want to simplify things we can actually repair your foundation if need be in extreme cases we are basically going to be replacing it!

Being Proactive

The best thing that you can be is to be proactive. That is not just a line that we want to throw out there because we think that is may sound cool. Of course, when these foundations were set up the idea was that they were going to be in place for a very long time. Yet, there are different factors that can come into play that will deteriorate these types of foundations. What are we suggesting? Well, keeping a watchful eye on your foundation and taking steps to make sure that you can minimize the moisture exposure is going to be a great place to start.

What Is the Worst Case Scenario?

The worst-case scenario would be that we would have lift the house and incorporate a new support system. We would say that having your house fall apart is the worst-case scenario because it really takes either an extraordinary event or just too much time for this to happen. For the most part we are going to be able to tackle issues before they reach a breaking point. At least that is what we hope to do.
